How to Get Your Cruise at the Cheapest Price
OK, so perhaps it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to book a cruise but it isn’t altogether straightforward either. One thing to consider is when to book the cruise. You might be wondering if you should book well in advance or wait until the last minute in order to get the best price.
Unfortunately there’s no one single answer to this. There’s a variety of cruises to choose from plus company policies, political events and marketing practices can have an effect. But here are a few tips you might find useful.
No doubt about it, you need to shop around. Although no two cruises will be identical, there are a number of companies out there who offer an excellent voyage. Also the internet has made it easier than ever and it also opens up more choice.
After doing a bit of general research on prices for the different seasons and destinations, you can start to finely tune your search.
If you have to go on vacation on specific dates due to work commitments etc then you are of course limiting the number of options. You’ll be able to get a better price if you are more flexible. If you have to set a particular date then booking at least 6 months in advance is preferable.
Booking early won’t give you to best possible price and some companies don’t like to change dates. However some companies may upgrade your cabin. Although companies cannot 100% guarantee a specific departure date or cabin booking early nearly guarantees it.
If you are more flexible then you’ll be able to take advantage of any deals that can come up from time to time. They may offer you a superior cabin although you’ll need to act fast. So you’ll need to have your passport etc ready so that you can leave at short notice.
If where you want to go isn’t as popular or you want to go during a quieter time of year then you’ll have more options. You’ll also get a better pick of cabin at a great price.
The Alaskan season operates between May and September because of the weather. Winters can be harsh and it’s difficult to travel then. This is why July and August can sell out 9 months in advance.
